Accounting Manager
Quatsino Economic Development LP
Salary $85,000 to $95,000
Quatsino Economic Development LP is seeking a hands-on, experienced Accounting Manager to join their growing team and play a key role in strengthening the financial operations of a dynamic and expanding organization. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a purpose-driven organization focused on economic growth, community impact, and long-term sustainability. With multiple business lines spanning forestry, marine services, construction, and more, this role offers the chance to work across diverse operations while helping bring structure and clarity to evolving financial systems.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Accounting Manager will oversee full-cycle accounting across multiple entities while also supporting day-to-day financial operations. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative, small-team environment and is comfortable balancing both strategic responsibilities and detailed accounting work. You will play an important role in strengthening financial processes, improving reporting accuracy, and supporting continued organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage all aspects of full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting across multiple entities. You will lead month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, while also handling payroll processing, tax filings (GST, PST, and payroll remittances), and cash flow monitoring. The Accounting Manager will contribute to organizing and refining financial data, improving internal controls, and supporting the implementation of systems such as ADP for payroll and enhanced accounting workflows. This position requires a flexible approach, with the ability to support both higher-level financial analysis and transactional accounting activities as needed.
The Ideal Candidate
You are an experienced full-cycle accounting professional with 5 to 10 years of progressive experience, ideally in a multi-entity or complex environment. While a formal designation is not required, you bring strong technical expertise and a practical, hands-on approach. You are comfortable working in an evolving environment where processes are being refined and see this as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully. Experience working with Indigenous organizations or familiarity with grant-based and public-sector funding structures is considered an asset. Proficiency in accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, ADP payroll, and Excel is essential.
This role is ideal for someone looking to contribute to an organization where their work supports both operational success and broader community impact.
Location
Quatsino First Nation is located on the North Island of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, surrounded by rugged coastline, temperate rainforest, and abundant natural beauty. The community is within close proximity to Port Hardy (13 km) and Port McNeill (55 km), which provide access to shopping, schools, and healthcare services. Coal Harbour, just 2 km away, offers a quiet, rural coastal setting. Hybrid work arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
